About
Rhadinocentrus ornatus, the Ornate Rainbowfish or Soft-Spined Sunfish, is a beautiful and rarely seen species from Queensland, Australia. It inhabits tea-coloured, soft, acidic coastal streams — quite different from most rainbowfish. Males display red to orange fin markings with a shimmering iridescent body. Requires soft, slightly acidic water to thrive; unsuitable for hard Belgian tap water without RO treatment. A true specialist's fish, increasingly captive-bred by enthusiasts.

Species tank or with other small, gentle soft-water fish. Soft acidic water (pH 5.5–7.0), RO or rainwater recommended. Temperature 20–26 °C. Feed micro-pellets, baby brine shrimp, daphnia. Gentle filtration. 60+ L.
