Otocinclus sp.
Origin: South America
Otocinclus catfish are small, gentle suckermouth algae eaters from South America, sold here as a group of three since they are social fish that thrive with companions. Particularly effective at clearing soft green algae and diatoms from plant leaves, aquarium glass, and hardscape without causing any damage to delicate vegetation. They require an established, well-planted aquarium with stable water parameters and sufficient biofilm and algae for natural grazing.
Introduce only to established, cycled aquariums with existing algae growth and biofilm. Keep in groups of 3 or more. Supplement with algae wafers and blanched zucchini when natural algae is insufficient. Avoid housing with large or aggressive fish. Sensitive to sudden water chemistry changes.
