About
Over halfmoon bettas are bred to push the limits of tail spread beyond 180 degrees, creating a caudal fin so wide it curls slightly at the tips. This extreme fan makes the OHM one of the most visually overwhelming bettas when fully flared. Careful husbandry is required to prevent fin damage due to the excessive fin surface area.
Care Guide
Water: 26-30°C, pH 6.0-7.5, very clean soft water — strict water change regimen prevents fin rot. Tank: minimum 20L, near-zero current; avoid any sharp or rough decorations. Feeding: small betta pellets, frozen bloodworm, daphnia; two small feedings daily. Behaviour: males are highly territorial; excess finnage can invite self-biting under stress. Compatibility: house with the most gentle community fish only; ideally species-only.
