Sphaeramia nematoptera
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Pajama Cardinalfish is one of the most immediately recognizable reef fish, wearing its characteristic 'pajamas'—a yellow front half, bold dark vertical midband, and spotted rear half. One of the hardiest and most adaptable cardinalfish available, it tolerates a wide range of aquarium conditions and acclimates readily to captive feeding. Best kept in small groups where they peacefully school together, making them an attractive mid-water display in reef aquariums.
Keep in groups of 3–5 for natural schooling behavior. Provide live rock caves for shelter during the day—cardinalfish are naturally crepuscular. Feed frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, and marine flake in the evening. Compatible with all peaceful reef inhabitants.
