About

The Paletail or Bicolor Chromis (Chromis margaritifer) is one of the most visually striking chromis species, featuring a sharp two-tone pattern with a dark brownish-black anterior body contrasting sharply with a pure white posterior and caudal fin. This high-contrast coloration makes it an immediately eye-catching mid-water swimmer in reef displays, adding a different aesthetic to the typical green or blue chromis. Found from Christmas Island to Pitcairn across the Indo-Pacific.

Care Guide

Keep in small groups of 3–5 for natural schooling behavior in open water. Feed quality marine flake, frozen mysis, and enriched brine shrimp. Provide ample open swimming space with live rock for shelter. Compatible with all peaceful reef inhabitants.
