Caridina cantonensis var. 'Panda'
Also known as: Panda Shrimp, Panda Caridina
Origin: Selectively bred; base species from Southern China
The Panda Caridina is a Taiwan Bee-derived variety named for its striking black saddle-like patterning over a white base body, evoking the appearance of a giant panda. Unlike standard Crystal Bee patterning, the Panda morph features broad, irregular black coverage resembling a panda's markings. These shrimp demand the same stringent soft, acidic, low-TDS conditions as all Taiwan Bee variants, with an active buffering substrate and RO water. Their high-contrast patterning makes them one of the most visually distinctive Caridina available. A densely planted tank with abundant moss and Indian almond leaves provides the ideal environment for health and breeding success.
Water: pH 5.8–6.8, TDS 80–130 ppm, temperature 20–24°C; RO water with Caridina mineral mix and active substrate. Tank: 30–60 litres; dense moss and fine plants; gentle sponge filtration. Feeding: Biofilm, algae, high-quality shrimp pellets, leaf litter. Breeding: Stable parameters critical; 15–25 eggs per clutch. Compatibility: Species-only; do not mix with Neocaridina or fish.
