Rhinogobius wuyanlingensis
Origin: China (southern mountain streams)
This panda-patterned morph of Rhinogobius from southern Chinese mountain streams exhibits bold black-and-white banding immediately reminiscent of a giant panda, making it one of the most visually distinctive and sought-after aquarium gobies. Males spar animatedly but rarely cause serious injury to one another. Cooler, well-oxygenated water with a rocky aquarium providing multiple territories suits this species best, making it a rewarding challenge for temperate freshwater enthusiasts.
Provide a rocky aquarium with strong flow and high oxygen levels. Maintain cooler temperatures—avoid exceeding 22°C for long periods. Feed frozen meaty foods: bloodworm, daphnia, artemia, and small invertebrates. Males need sufficient territory; provide hiding spots and visual barriers.
