Pantodon buchholzi

Pantodon buchholzi, the African Butterflyfish, is a uniquely evolved surface predator with large pectoral fins that look like wings. Can leap and glide short distances out of water. Cryptic brown patterning mimics fallen leaves from above. Fascinating species-specific display.
Surface-dwelling. Low current. Covered tank essential — excellent leaper. Temperature 23–30°C, pH 6.0–7.5. Feed floating crickets, waxworms, freeze-dried Artemia, floating pellets. Do not keep with surface-active fish.
