Melanotaenia parkinsoni
Origin: Kemp Welch River, Papua New Guinea
Parkinson's Rainbowfish from the Kemp Welch River system of Papua New Guinea is celebrated among rainbowfish enthusiasts for its deep orange-yellow body overlaid with blue scale edges creating a beautiful net-like reticulated pattern. Males are particularly robust with a deep, muscular body and coloration that rivals any other rainbowfish species. Best kept in groups in a spacious aquarium with some flow, where males display vigorously to each other.
Keep in mixed groups of 8+ with both males and females to encourage display behavior. Provide a spacious aquarium with gentle to moderate flow and open swimming space. Feed quality flake, micro-pellets, and frozen live foods. Males in prime breeding condition display intense coloration.
