Pseudanthias pascalus
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Pascalus Anthias, widely known as the Purple Queen Anthias, is a breathtaking deep-water reef fish from the Indo-Pacific with adult males displaying rich purple and violet hues that are among the most intense colors in marine fishkeeping. Females display a more muted yellow-orange coloration. As with all anthias, it is a social, schooling species that requires stable water parameters, consistent feeding schedules, and a harem-based social structure for long-term success in captivity.
Keep in a harem of one male with multiple females. Feed small meaty foods 3–5 times daily: frozen mysis, copepods, and enriched brine shrimp. Maintain stable water temperature and chemistry. Anthias are prone to starvation if underfed. Provide open swimming space and live rock structure.
