Pseudomugil paskai
Also known as: Paska's Blue-eye
Origin: Papua New Guinea
Pseudomugil paskai is native to slow-moving and stagnant habitats in Papua New Guinea, where it inhabits heavily vegetated, often shallow water. A small and delicate species rarely encountered in the trade, it is prized by blue-eye enthusiasts for its gentle behaviour and attractive golden body with vivid blue eyes. Does best in a quiet, well-planted nano setup.
Water: 22–28°C, pH 6.5–7.5, soft to moderately hard water; stable conditions. Tank: 30 L+ well-planted nano; gentle or no filtration flow. Feeding: Omnivore; micro-foods, fine flakes, baby brine shrimp, and infusoria. Behaviour: Gentle, peaceful nano schooling fish; shy in busy community setups. Compatibility: Best in a species tank or with very small, peaceful nano fish.
