Carinotetraodon travancoricus
Also known as: Pea Puffer, Dwarf Pea Puffer, Indian Dwarf Puffer
Origin: Kerala, India
Carinotetraodon travancoricus is the same species as the Dwarf Pea Puffer — this listing features standard captive-bred stock. Each individual has a unique spot pattern, and they quickly learn to recognise their keeper and beg for food. They require a supply of live snails to maintain beak length.
Water: 24–28 °C, pH 6.5–7.5, moderate (GH 5–15). Tank: 30 L minimum; heavy planting provides territory breaks; sand or fine gravel. Feeding: Live pond snails, ramshorn snails, frozen bloodworm, daphnia, brine shrimp. Behaviour: Semi-aggressive and territorial, especially males; keep 1 male or all-female groups. Compatibility: Species-only recommended; will nip fins and consume any shrimp.
