Parancistrus nudiventris
Also known as: Peppermint Pleco, L030
Origin: Brazil (Rio Xingu)
Parancistrus nudiventris is a patterned loricariid from the Rio Xingu characterised by a fine white reticulated network over a dark base — the pattern giving rise to its common name. It is an omnivore that grazes algae and biofilm while also accepting meaty supplementation, and appreciates the warm, fast-flowing conditions of its native Xingu habitat.
Water: 26–30°C, pH 6.0–7.0, soft; moderate to high flow with good oxygenation. Tank: Rocky caves and driftwood; minimum 150L; clean, well-filtered water. Feeding: Omnivore; algae wafers, Repashy, blanched greens, and occasional bloodworms. Behaviour: Nocturnal; males territorial toward similar-patterned species. Compatibility: Peaceful with most community fish; keep only one male per tank.
