Tatia perugiae
Origin: Peru, Brazil, Venezuela (Amazon & Orinoco basins)
Tatia perugiae is a small, nocturnal auchenipterid catfish from the Amazon and Orinoco basins, displaying an elongated body with a dark brown base overlaid with pale spots or finely marbled patterning. Like other Tatia species, it practices internal fertilization—females store sperm for weeks before egg deposition. Secretive by day, it hides in hollow driftwood or caves. A peaceful community fish for species too large to be swallowed.
Provide hollow driftwood logs, PVC pipes, or cave structures for daytime hiding. Feed at night: frozen bloodworm, shrimp, and meaty foods. Maintain clean, slightly acidic to neutral water. Can be kept as a group in spacious tanks. House with peaceful mid-to-large fish.
