Tatia perugiae
Also known as: Perugiae Woodcat, Perugiae Tatia
Origin: South America (Peru, Bolivia — Amazon tributaries)
Tatia perugiae is a diminutive woodcat from the Amazon tributaries of Peru and Bolivia. It belongs to the family Auchenipteridae and is characterised by its habit of wedging itself tightly under driftwood, bark, or leaves during the day and emerging to feed after lights out. Its subtle brown-and-cream mottled pattern provides excellent camouflage. A peaceful and undemanding species for the intermediate keeper.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard (GH 2–12). Tank: 60 L minimum; abundant driftwood, cork bark, and leaf litter for daytime shelter. Feeding: Meaty frozen foods at night: bloodworm, daphnia, and small brine shrimp. Behaviour: Strictly nocturnal; solitary or in small groups; rarely visible during daylight. Compatibility: Peaceful with all community fish; too small to threaten most tankmates.
