Ctenopoma petherici
Also known as: Petheric's Ctenopoma
Origin: Central Africa
Ctenopoma petherici is an infrequently exported bushfish from Central Africa, distinguishable by its longitudinal striped pattern and relatively slender body shape. It shares the predatory instincts and hardy constitution of other large Ctenopoma species. Successful keeping requires a spacious, well-decorated aquarium and a diet of meaty foods.
Water: temp 23–28°C, pH 6.0–7.5, moderate hardness. Tank: minimum 100L; caves, driftwood, and hardy plants for cover. Feeding: carnivore — live and frozen invertebrates, earthworms, pellets for carnivores. Behaviour: nocturnal; semi-aggressive and predatory; peaceful with unsuitable prey. Compatibility: suitable with medium or large robust fish; will prey on small fish.
