Pimelodus pictus
Origin: Colombia, Peru
Pimelodus pictus, the Pictus Catfish, is a popular South American catfish with brilliant silver body, black spots and very long barbels. Active, fast and best kept in groups. Peaceful with large fish but may eat very small tetras.
Group of 3+. 150 L+. Temperature 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5. Sandy substrate. Feed sinking pellets, frozen Mysis, bloodworm. Barbels are sensitive — avoid coarse substrate. Active day and night.
