Placidochromis milomo
Origin: Lake Malawi (VC-10 reef, rocky shoreline)
Placidochromis milomo 'Super VC-10' is named for its dramatically enlarged lips used to suck invertebrates from rocky crevices at the VC-10 reef in Lake Malawi. Males display superb metallic blue with a characteristic orange-yellow blaze across the chest and belly — among the most visually striking haplochromines available. Relatively peaceful for its size and compatible with other large Lake Malawi cichlids in spacious tanks with robust filtration.
Minimum 350 L with heavy rocky aquascape providing multiple territories. Malawi water parameters: pH 7.5–8.6, GH 8–20, KH 5–10, temperature 24–28°C. Feed a varied diet of quality cichlid pellets, spirulina, and occasional frozen foods. Can be kept with other large Malawi haplochromines and peacocks; avoid small mbuna that may be harassed. Regular water changes of 30% weekly.
