About
Female plakats are among the hardiest of all betta varieties, combining the short-finned robustness of the plakat form with the relatively calmer temperament of a female. They are ideal candidates for sorority tanks where fin damage is a concern with long-finned females.
Care Guide
Water: 26-30°C, pH 6.0-7.5, soft to medium hardness — stable parameters reduce aggression. Tank: minimum 20L; sorority setups need 80L+ with heavy planting and visual barriers. Feeding: betta pellets, frozen bloodworm, daphnia — two small meals daily. Behaviour: females may establish pecking orders; monitor initial introductions carefully. Compatibility: peaceful community fish; sorority introductions should be done simultaneously.
