Betta splendens
Origin: Captive bred (Southeast Asia)
The Yellow Plakat Betta presents vibrant lemon-to-golden-yellow coloration across its compact, short-finned plakat body form. The plakat tail type reflects the wild Betta splendens form, and is favoured by many enthusiasts for energetic swimming behaviour and reduced fin damage risk. An uncommon and appealing color morph in the plakat category, ideal for keepers seeking an active, visually striking betta with manageable care requirements.
Minimum 15 L with heater at 24–28°C. pH 6.0–7.5, GH 2–10, KH 0–4. Feed varied diet: betta pellets, frozen bloodworm, brine shrimp, daphnia. House males singly; females may be kept in groups in larger tanks with plenty of cover. Provide a well-fitting lid — bettas can jump. Regular water changes important in small tanks.
