Cyprinus rubrofuscus
Origin: Captive bred (Japan)
Platinum Ogon is a single-coloured metallic koi (Hikari Muji) with an all-over silver-white lustre that reflects light beautifully in garden ponds. Their clean, gleaming appearance makes them one of the most popular koi varieties sold in Belgian and Dutch aquatic shops, both as individual display fish and as companions within mixed koi ponds. Medium grade at 15–25 cm; will grow considerably larger in a well-maintained pond.
Minimum 1,000 L well-filtered garden pond. pH 7.0–8.5, GH 5–20, KH 3–12, temperature 5–25°C. High filtration capacity essential as koi are heavy waste producers. Feed quality koi pellets year-round (reducing frequency below 10°C). Keep in groups of at least 3. Partial water changes 10–20% weekly.
