Cyprinus rubrofuscus
Also known as: Platinum Ogon, Purachina Koi, White Metallic Koi
Origin: Japan
The Platinum Ogon (also called Purachina) is a white-bodied Ogon with an intense metallic platinum luster. Its clean, single-color body reflects light brilliantly against dark pond water, making it one of the most visible and dramatic koi in any collection. It shares the hardy, friendly temperament of other Ogon varieties.
Water: 5–25°C, pH 6.8–7.8, avoid high organic load that yellows the white body. Pond: minimum 1,000 L; low-carotenoid diet helps preserve the bright white coloration. Feeding: wheat germ and non-color-enhancing koi pellets to maintain white purity. Behaviour: friendly and bold; often the most visible fish in a multi-koi pond at dusk. Compatibility: all koi varieties; particularly striking alongside dark-colored koi.
