Pocillopora verrucosa
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Pocillopora verrucosa is distinguished from P. damicornis by its more pronounced branch warting (verrucae) and tighter branching form. The pink form displays vivid coral-pink colouration that deepens under intense reef lighting. It is slightly more demanding than P. damicornis but still regarded as an intermediate-beginner SPS well-suited to established reef systems with stable parameters.
Medium-high PAR (200–350). Strong flow. Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–450 ppm, temp 24–27°C. Stable parameters important — more sensitive to Alk swings than P. damicornis. Watch for Pocillopora-specific pests including Tegastes copepods. Dip all new frags in Lugol's or CoralRx before placement. Fragging: snap branches with bone cutters.
