Poropanchax normani
Origin: West and Central Africa
Poropanchax normani is a small, elegant lampeye panchax from West and Central Africa, notable for its glowing blue-white iridescent eyes that create a stunning shimmering effect in dimly lit aquariums. A peaceful surface dweller that prefers the upper water column, it makes an excellent companion for small bottom-dwelling species in nano or planted tanks. Best kept in groups where the collective eye-shine creates a spectacular display effect.
Minimum 20 L well-planted tank with surface vegetation or floating plants for cover. pH 6.0–7.5, GH 2–8, KH 0–4, temperature 22–28°C. Feed small live or frozen foods: daphnia, micro-worms, baby brine shrimp; also accepts fine crushed flake. Keep in groups of 6 or more for natural behaviour. Tight-fitting lid essential — surface dwelling fish are jumpers.
