About

African freshwater crabs (Potamonautes sp.) are hardy, fully aquatic crabs that require land access for moulting and basking. Brownish-olive in colour with rounded carapace, they are less colourful than Vampire Crabs but more fully aquatic and easier to house. Active and entertaining to observe.

Care Guide

Paludarium or aquarium with elevated land area above water. Omnivorous scavenger — feed sinking pellets, vegetables, and meaty foods. Peaceful with large fish but will eat small fish and shrimp. Provide rocks and driftwood both above and below waterline.
