Centropyge potteri
Origin: Hawaii (endemic)
Potter's Angelfish (Centropyge potteri) is an endemic Hawaiian species displaying a gorgeous mosaic of orange and dark blue-black irregular markings unique to each individual. One of the more challenging dwarf angels to acclimate, it requires excellent water quality, a mature live-rock-rich system, and a sponge-enriched diet. Its Hawaiian endemism and unmatched beauty make it a highly sought-after collector's fish — a centrepiece for the advanced reef keeper.
Minimum 120 L mature reef with abundant live rock for grazing. pH 8.1–8.4, salinity 1.020–1.025, temperature 22–26°C. Feed varied diet: mysis, brine shrimp, spirulina, and Angel Formula or sponge-based foods. Acclimate slowly; may refuse food initially. Once established, hardy and long-lived. May nip at LPS corals; monitor carefully in reef settings.
