Trichogaster lalius
Also known as: Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami
Origin: South Asia
The Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami is a selectively bred form of Colisa lalia, developed to emphasise a soft blue body tone with contrasting diagonal red-orange stripes. It is a popular choice for nano and small community aquariums due to its compact size and gentle disposition. Water quality must be maintained carefully as it can be prone to bacterial infections.
Water: temp 25–28°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderate hardness. Tank: minimum 60L; heavily planted with floating coverage and gentle flow. Feeding: omnivore — quality flake food, micro pellets, live brine shrimp and daphnia. Behaviour: peaceful; males may display to each other but rarely cause lasting harm. Compatibility: excellent in small peaceful communities with tetras, rasboras, and shrimp.
