Kottelatlimia pristes
Also known as: Priste's Loach-Rasbora
Origin: Borneo
Kottelatlimia pristes is an unusual, eel-like micro cyprinid from the peat swamps and blackwater streams of Borneo, where it lives in the leaf litter and among dense root mats in highly acidic conditions. Very rarely traded, it requires specialist blackwater care with extremely soft, acidic water and live micro foods. Its slender, somewhat loach-like body shape and secretive behaviour make it a fascinating species for advanced biotope enthusiasts.
Water: 24–28 °C, pH 4.0–6.5, very soft blackwater (GH 0–6). Tank: 30 L minimum; deep leaf litter, peat filtration, very dim lighting. Feeding: Omnivore — micro worms, infusoria, tiny live invertebrates. Behaviour: Secretive; keep in groups of 8+ in a quiet species or biotope setup. Compatibility: Species or blackwater biotope only; not suitable for general communities.
