Procambarus clarkii
Origin: Captive bred (North American lineage)
The Blue Procambarus clarkii is a striking colour form of the Red Swamp Crayfish, selectively bred to display vivid electric-blue colouration across the entire body and claws. Bold and active, it is best kept alone or in a species-only tank as it can be aggressive toward tank mates. A specimen tank centrepiece for crayfish enthusiasts who appreciate the dramatic contrast between its blue body and tank décor.
Minimum 80 L with multiple hiding places (caves, pipes). pH 6.5–8.0, GH 5–20, KH 2–10, temperature 18–25°C. Omnivorous — feed sinking pellets, vegetables, frozen foods. Not compatible with ornamental shrimp, slow fish, or delicate plants. Provide dark substrate to enhance colour display. Keep singly unless large tank with many territories.
