Procambarus clarkii
Origin: Captive bred (USA)
The Electric Blue Crayfish is a stunning mutation of Procambarus clarkii displaying an intense, all-over sky-blue to cobalt coloration across the entire body and claws. One of the most popular ornamental crayfish in the aquarium hobby, it thrives in a range of water conditions and is forgiving for beginners. Because it is territorial and destructive to plants, it is best kept as a solo specimen or in species-specific setups with ample hiding spots.
Minimum 80 L with robust décor and PVC pipes or caves as hiding spots. pH 6.5–8.0, GH 5–20, KH 2–10, temperature 18–28°C. Feed sinking pellets, blanched vegetables, and occasional frozen foods. Keep alone or in species tank with multiple hiding spots — will fight with conspecifics. Incompatible with most ornamental shrimp and slow-moving fish. Will eat soft-leaved plants.
