Protomelas sp. 'Steveni Taiwan'
Origin: Lake Malawi (Taiwan Reef)
Protomelas sp. 'Steveni Taiwan' (Taiwan Reef Cichlid) is a breathtaking haplochromine from Taiwan Reef in Lake Malawi where dominant males display vivid electric blue from nose to tail with bold black markings on the dorsal fin. Among the most intensely coloured solid-blue cichlids in the lake, this large, robust species is an active, open-water swimmer that thrives in spacious Malawi community tanks with compatible haplochromines and peacocks.
Minimum 300 L with open swimming space and some rocky structures. Malawi water: pH 7.5–8.6, GH 8–20, KH 5–10, temperature 24–28°C. Feed quality cichlid pellets and spirulina; avoid excessive protein. Keep one dominant male with multiple females to dilute aggression. Compatible with other large Malawi haps and peacocks; avoid similar-sized solid-blue males. 30% weekly water changes.
