Pseudotropheus acei
Origin: Lake Malawi, Africa
Pseudotropheus acei 'Yellow Tail' is one of the most peaceful and attractive of the Malawi Mbuna cichlids. Its deep blue body is offset by a vivid yellow tail. Unlike most Mbuna, it prefers open water and is found near dead submerged trees in its natural habitat. Can be kept in small groups; one of the best beginner Mbuna.
At least 150 L. Keep in groups of 5+ (1 male, 4+ females) for best display and reduced aggression. Hard, alkaline water essential. Feed primarily plant-based foods: spirulina flake, algae wafer — occasional meaty frozen food. More peaceful than most Mbuna. Maternal mouthbrooder.
