Also known as: Puerto Narino Apisto, Puerto Narino Bitaeniata
Origin: South America
This locality form of Apistogramma cf. bitaeniata was collected near the Colombian Amazonian port of Puerto Narino. It presents richer orange-yellow base coloration and more pronounced lateral banding than some other bitaeniata variants. Best maintained in soft, slightly acidic water replicating its blackwater origin.
Water: 25-30°C, pH 5.0-6.8, soft (GH 1-6); tannins beneficial. Tank: 60L minimum, dark sand, leaf litter, caves, well-planted with floating cover. Feeding: omnivore — live/frozen microfoods; high-quality cichlid micro-pellets. Behaviour: moderately territorial during breeding; harem setup (1M:2-3F) recommended. Compatibility: species tank or small-tetra community; avoid competitive cichlids.
