About

Pundamilia pundamilia is a robust Lake Victoria haplochromine with males displaying a vivid blue body broken by bold black vertical barring — one of the more distinctively patterned Victorian species. A maternal mouthbrooder inhabiting rocky shorelines of Tanzania and Uganda. Often maintained alongside Pundamilia nyererei in conservation colonies; it thrives in hard, alkaline water typical of Lake Victoria.

Care Guide

Minimum 150 L with rocky structure. Lake Victoria water: pH 7.2–8.5, GH 8–15, KH 5–10, temperature 22–26°C. Feed varied pellets and occasional spirulina. Keep one dominant male with multiple females. Compatible with Pundamilia nyererei and other Victorian cichlids of similar size. 25% weekly water changes. Important ex-situ conservation species — source from responsible breeders.
