Chromis scotti
Origin: Caribbean, Western Atlantic
Chromis scotti is a small, deep-water Atlantic chromis with a blue-purple iridescent sheen that intensifies under reef lighting. Found over deep outer reef slopes in the Caribbean, it forms aggregations in the wild and does best in groups of five or more in captivity. One of the more peaceful damsels available for reef aquariums, unlike many of its more belligerent Pomacentridae relatives.
Minimum 150 L reef with open swimming areas. pH 8.1–8.4, salinity 1.021–1.025, temperature 24–27°C. Feed quality flake, frozen mysis, and copepods. Keep in groups of 5+ for natural aggregation behaviour. Generally reef-safe. Peaceful for a damsel — compatible with a wide range of reef fish. May experience attrition in groups as hierarchy establishes.
