Neocaridina davidi var. 'Purple Rili'
Also known as: Purple Rili Shrimp, Violet Rili Neocaridina
Origin: Selectively bred; base species from Taiwan and China
The Purple Rili is one of the rarer Rili-pattern Neocaridina color forms, featuring violet-purple pigmentation at the head and tail sections with a transparent, unpigmented midsection creating the classic two-toned Rili effect. The unusual purple coloration gives it a jewel-toned quality that is particularly striking in tanks with dark substrates and bright green plant growth. Hardy and adaptable like all Neocaridina davidi morphs, Purple Rilis breed readily in a wide range of tap water conditions without specialized equipment. A well-maintained planted tank with abundant biofilm and algae growth produces the most vibrant color expression in this uncommon morph.
Water: pH 6.5–8.0, TDS 150–400 ppm, temperature 18–28°C; standard tap water acceptable. Tank: 20+ litres; dark substrate; planted with Java moss and broad-leaf plants. Feeding: Biofilm, algae, blanched greens, Neocaridina shrimp pellets. Breeding: Prolific; select for clearest transparent midsection and richest purple coloration. Compatibility: Peaceful; community-compatible with small non-predatory fish.
