Tylomelania zemis
Origin: Sulawesi, Indonesia
The Yellow Rabbit Snail (Tylomelania zemis) is a stunning variant with a long, spiralling dark shell and a bright yellow body and head adorned with a wrinkled, rabbit-like face that gives the species its common name. A livebearing snail that produces one or two fully formed juveniles at a time, making population control effortless. Requires warm, hard, alkaline water matching its Sulawesi lake origins.
Minimum 30 L with fine sand for burrowing. pH 7.3–8.5, GH 8–18, KH 5–12, temperature 26–30°C. Feed biofilm, blanched vegetables, Repashy gel, and sinking pellets. Calcium supplementation important for shell integrity. Peaceful with all compatible species; keep warm — declines rapidly below 24°C. Slow breeder; population unlikely to explode.
