Aspidoras raimundi
Origin: Brazil (São Francisco River basin)
Aspidoras raimundi is a delicate miniature catfish from the São Francisco River basin of Brazil, belonging to the sister genus of Corydoras. Its small size, fine spotting pattern, and active foraging behaviour make it ideal for nano and species tanks. Less commonly available than corydoras, it shares the same care requirements and peaceful temperament. Best kept in groups of six or more where its active schooling provides constant visual interest.
Minimum 40 L with fine sand substrate and hiding spots. pH 6.5–7.5, GH 2–10, KH 0–5, temperature 22–27°C. Feed sinking mini pellets, micro wafers, and frozen small foods (bloodworm, daphnia). Keep in groups of 6+ — more active and less shy in numbers. Compatible with small peaceful fish. Sensitive to poor water quality; regular water changes essential.
