Rainbow Crab

Cardisoma armatum is a large, vividly coloured land crab from West Africa featuring a striking combination of deep blue carapace, orange-red legs, and white claws. It is primarily terrestrial and requires a large paludarium with a deep, diggable substrate and access to water. It is active and intelligent, though bold and territorial.

Water: 24–28°C, pH 7.5–8.5; requires a large water pool for soaking and humidity maintenance. Tank: Minimum 100L paludarium with very deep substrate (15cm+) for burrowing and a secure, heavy lid. Feeding: Fruit, vegetables, dried fish, meaty protein, and calcium supplements. Behaviour: Territorial and bold; will dig extensive burrows; can be aggressive toward other crabs. Compatibility: Best kept alone or as a mated pair; not suitable for community setups.
