Rainfordia opercularis

Rainfordia opercularis is a rare Australian endemic plesiopid found exclusively in the southern Great Barrier Reef, with a tan-orange body marked by bold dark vertical bars and vivid blue-rimmed eyes. Seldom collected and highly prized, it is completely reef-safe and thrives on a variety of meaty frozen foods. An exceptional collector's fish for experienced marine hobbyists who can source this elusive species.
Minimum 150 L reef or FOWLR with cave structures and overhangs for hiding. pH 8.1–8.4, salinity 1.021–1.025, temperature 22–26°C. Feed frozen mysis, krill, and small meaty marine foods; may initially only take live foods. Peaceful; reef-safe. Prefers dimly lit areas and caves — include ample rockwork. Rare in the trade; source responsibly.
