Planorbella sp. (pink morph)
Also known as: Pink Ramshorn Snail
Origin: Americas (selectively bred)
The Pink Ramshorn is a bred colour variant with a pale, rosy-pink body that glows softly when light passes through its thin shell. Like other ramshorns it is an efficient algae and detritus eater, reproducing readily in calcium-rich, neutral to alkaline water. It makes a charming and functional addition to nano and planted aquariums.
Water: 18–28°C, pH 7.0–8.0; calcium supplementation recommended for shell health. Tank: Minimum 20L; does well in planted tanks with available algae and surface biofilm. Feeding: Algae, decaying plant matter, biofilm, and blanched vegetables such as zucchini or spinach. Behaviour: Active, gentle grazer; visible throughout the day on glass, substrate, and plant leaves. Compatibility: Safe with all community fish and shrimp; avoid pufferfish and assassin snails.
