Pseudanthias randalli
Origin: Central and Western Pacific
Pseudanthias randalli is a brilliantly coloured anthias from the Central and Western Pacific featuring an orange-red body with violet scale highlights and a distinctive yellow stripe through the eye, named after the legendary ichthyologist Dr. John Randall. A moderate-difficulty species that benefits from multiple daily feedings of enriched mysis and copepods. Like most anthias, it does best in groups with one male and several females.
Minimum 200 L reef with open swimming space and caves for retreat. pH 8.1–8.4, salinity 1.021–1.025, temperature 24–27°C. Feed 2–3× daily with enriched mysis shrimp, copepods, and frozen brine shrimp. Keep as one male with 3–5 females; a single male can maintain a harem. Peaceful with non-aggressive species. Strong water movement and high oxygen essential.
