Rasbora volzii
Origin: Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo
Rasbora volzii is an attractive schooling fish from the blackwater streams and peat swamps of the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo, characterized by a bold dark lateral stripe running from snout to tail on a silver-gold body. Growing slightly larger than most hobby rasboras, it is a lively, active schooler that brings constant movement to the mid-water level. Best kept in groups of eight or more in a well-planted aquarium with tannin-stained water.
Minimum 80 L planted tank with tannin-stained soft water. pH 5.0–7.0, GH 1–10, KH 0–5, temperature 23–28°C. Feed quality flake, micro pellets, and frozen small foods: daphnia, micro-worms, baby brine shrimp. Keep in groups of 8+. Provide floating plants and subdued lighting to replicate blackwater conditions. Compatible with small peaceful species.
