Neocaridina davidi
Origin: Captive bred (Neocaridina davidi var.)
The Red Cherry Shrimp is the quintessential beginner shrimp — a hardy and prolifically breeding Neocaridina with cheerful red coloration. It will thrive and breed in virtually any mature, peaceful freshwater aquarium with stable water parameters. An essential algae-grazer and detritivore that earns its place in planted tanks by constantly cleaning glass, plants, and substrate. Keep in groups of ten or more for best display and breeding success.
Minimum 10 L. pH 6.8–7.8, GH 6–14, KH 2–6, temperature 18–28°C. Feed biofilm, algae, blanched vegetables, and quality shrimp pellets. Keep in groups of 10+; will breed readily in peaceful tanks. Avoid copper-containing medications and fertilisers — lethal to shrimp. Do not keep with fish large enough to eat them. Planted tanks with moss are ideal.
