About

Epiplatys dageti inhabits slow forest streams of Liberia and Ivory Coast. Unlike many killifish, it is comfortable in small groups and makes an excellent surface fish for community aquaria. Males develop a distinctive red spot under the chin that intensifies during courtship. It is hardy and adaptable compared to many other killifish.

Care Guide

Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard. Tank: 60L minimum, well-planted, floating plants, tight lid — killifish jump readily. Feeding: Carnivore — accepts floating micro-pellets, live/frozen daphnia and bloodworm. Behaviour: Peaceful in groups; males display to each other without serious aggression. Compatibility: Excellent with small-medium community fish; avoid large or aggressive species.
