Microrasbora rubescens
Also known as: Red Dwarf Rasbora, Myanmar Micro Rasbora, Rosy Microrasbora
Origin: Myanmar
Microrasbora rubescens is a tiny cyprinid endemic to highland lake habitats in northern Myanmar, described from localities near the Emerald Dwarf Rasbora but with a distinctly rosy-pink base colouration. Like its relative, it adapts to harder, alkaline water and prefers cool conditions — making it suitable for unheated rooms in mild climates. It is best kept as a species tank or with other Inle Lake endemics.
Water: 20–26 °C, pH 7.0–8.0, moderately hard preferred (GH 8–18). Tank: 30 L minimum; dense vegetation, species tank or Inle biotope recommended. Feeding: Omnivore — micro pellets, live baby brine shrimp, Cyclops, micro worms. Behaviour: Peaceful micro schooler; keep 10+ for best colouration and confidence. Compatibility: Species tank or Inle community only; too delicate for general communities.
