Caridina cf. cantonensis
Also known as: Red Fancy Tiger Shrimp, Red Tiger Shrimp
Origin: Captive bred (hybrid lineage)
Red Fancy Tiger Shrimp are first- or second-generation hybrids produced by crossing Tiger Shrimp (Caridina cf. cantonensis tiger form) with Crystal Red lines, combining bold transverse tiger striping with intense red colouration. Pattern expression varies between individuals, making each shrimp uniquely patterned. They share the soft, acidic water requirements of both parent species and are best kept in a dedicated Caridina tank.
Water: 20–24°C, pH 5.8–6.8, TDS 100–180, GH 4–7, KH 0–2; buffering substrate ideal. Tank: minimum 20 L, dense moss, driftwood, and leaf litter for biofilm. Feeding: biofilm, powdered shrimp pellets, blanched spinach, algae wafers. Behaviour: active and curious; grazes throughout the tank; peaceful. Compatibility: keep with other Caridina species; avoid all fish.
