Nothobranchius rubripinnis
Origin: Tanzania
Nothobranchius rubripinnis is an annual killifish from Tanzania, with males exhibiting striking red to orange finnage and a blue-grey body marked with red scales. Like all nothos, the eggs require a simulated dry period to develop. A relatively forgiving species for those new to annual killifish, offering stunning coloration with a manageable temperament compared to some other Nothobranchius species.
Minimum 40 L species tank with peat or coco-fibre spawning substrate. pH 6.5–7.5, GH 2–10, KH 0–5, temperature 22–26°C. Feed live and frozen small foods: daphnia, bloodworm, micro-worms. Collect eggs; store in moist peat at room temperature for 8–10 weeks before re-wetting. Plan breeding to maintain the line — annual lifespan is biological.
