The Red Flowerhorn is a premium line of the popular hybrid cichlid selected for maximally vivid red body colouration with high-contrast black markings and an impressive nuchal hump (kok). A prized showpiece for single-species display aquaria, combining dramatic visual impact with relatively straightforward care requirements. Highly territorial and aggressive — must be kept alone in a dedicated aquarium.
Care Guide
Minimum 350 L species-only aquarium. pH 7.0–8.0, GH 5–15, KH 3–8, temperature 26–30°C. Feed quality cichlid pellets, frozen krill, bloodworm, and colour-enhancing foods. Keep absolutely alone — will attack and kill any tank mates. Robust filtration essential as flowerhorns are heavy waste producers. Weekly 30% water changes. Highly responsive to owner interaction.
