Fromia milleporella
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Fromia milleporella is a vividly red starfish with fine granular texture and a compact five-armed body, making it one of the most attractive display starfish for reef aquariums. It feeds on microorganisms, biofilm, and small detritus on live rock and sand. A well-established tank with stable parameters and abundant live rock is essential for long-term success. Sensitive to rapid parameter shifts — acclimate slowly.
Minimum 150 L well-established reef. pH 8.1–8.4, salinity 1.023–1.025, temperature 23–27°C. Acclimate very slowly (2+ hours drip acclimation). Needs abundant live rock covered in microalgae and biofilm for feeding. Supplement with phytoplankton or specialized echinoderm food if needed. Reef-safe with corals; may occasionally eat small invertebrates. Sensitive to copper treatments.
